Young Adult Coaching
Coaching for Neurodivergent Teens and Young Adults
Build Confidence, Independence, and a Clearer Path Forward
Moving toward adulthood can bring up a lot of questions.
You may be thinking about college, work, relationships, daily life skills, communication, self-advocacy, or what comes next. You may want more independence, but still feel unsure about how to get there. Or you may know you are ready for something to change, but not know where to start.
Through personalized coaching, I help neurodivergent teens and young adults better understand themselves, build practical tools, and move forward with more clarity, confidence, and support.
The Skills That Make Adulthood Feel More Manageable
Coaching can help you build practical tools for the real-life skills, decisions, and conversations that come with growing independence.
Daily Life Skills: Do routines, responsibilities, or everyday tasks feel hard to manage consistently?
Understanding Yourself: Do you want to better understand what helps you feel confident, capable, and supported?
Self-Advocacy: Do you want to practice speaking up for yourself at school, work, home, or in relationships?
Follow-Through: Do you know what you want to do, but need support taking action and keeping momentum?
Communication: Do you want help expressing what you need in a clearer, more confident way?
College or Work: Are you preparing for college, work, or another next step and feeling unsure where to begin?
When helpful, we may also include a joint session with your young adult to support clearer communication, mutual understanding, and a stronger relationship.
When the Next Step Feels Hard to See
Adulthood can feel exciting, confusing, overwhelming, or all of those things at once. There may be things you want for yourself, but it can be hard to know what steps to take, what support to ask for, or how to explain what you need.
Coaching gives you space to slow down and sort through what is happening. Together, we look at your strengths, challenges, goals, and the areas where you want more support.
This is not about forcing you into someone else’s timeline. It is about helping you build a path forward that feels realistic, respectful, and connected to who you are.
Building Tools You Can Actually Use
Coaching is personalized to your goals, your pace, and the parts of adulthood that feel most important right now. Together, we may focus on:
Understanding Yourself More Clearly
Build greater awareness of your strengths, challenges, needs, and the types of support that help you succeed.
Building Life Skills and Routines
Create practical tools for planning, follow-through, time management, daily responsibilities, and everyday independence.
Strengthening Communication
Practice how to express what you need, ask for help, navigate hard conversations, and feel more understood.
Developing
Self-Advocacy
Learn how to speak up for yourself in school, work, relationships, family conversations, or support settings.
Preparing for College, Work, or What Comes Next
Think through next steps in a way that feels clear, manageable, and aligned with your goals.
Improving Confidence and Follow-Through
Move from feeling stuck or unsure to taking small, realistic steps forward with more confidence.
When helpful, we may also include a parent or family member in a session to support clearer communication, mutual understanding, and a stronger working relationship.
Support That Meets You Where You Are
There is no one right way to become independent.
There is no one right way to become independent.
Some young adults need support preparing for college. Some are working on life skills or daily routines. Some are trying to communicate more clearly with their parents. Some are figuring out work, relationships, motivation, or what kind of support they need in order to move forward.
In coaching, we work at your pace. We focus on what matters to you, what feels hard right now, and what practical steps can help you build confidence over time.
The goal is not perfection. The goal is progress that feels possible.
A Simple, Supportive Process
-
We begin with an honest, low-pressure conversation about what is happening, what feels hard, and what kind of support may be most helpful.
-
Together, we identify strengths, challenges, priorities, and next steps so the path forward feels clear, practical, and personalized.
-
Through ongoing coaching, we work together to strengthen communication, build confidence, support independence, and create healthier patterns over time.
The Framework For Lasting Change
The WAVE Method is my framework for helping young adults move from overwhelm to clarity, confidence, and more intentional support.
Instead of trying to solve everything at once, WAVE helps you slow down, focus on what matters most, and take one thoughtful next step at a time.
What Matters
Focus on the concern in front of you. We sort what needs attention now, what can wait, and whose concern it is: yours, your parent’s, or both.
Align
Clarify expectations, values, strengths, and support. Stop working against your brain. Together we identify what lights you up and build your whole plan around that.
Visualize
This isn't about someone else's version of success. It's about painting a picture that belongs entirely to you — then making it real.
Execute & Evaluate
Take one intentional step. Try it, reflect on what happened, and adjust. Each small step creates momentum and builds confidence.
“My parents attended Sharona’s parent meetings where they discuss kids like me that are on the spectrum. I feel Sharona has helped them understand me and my autistic behaviors better. I feel they can see the world through my eyes a little more and that has brought us closer together as a family. ”

I HELP FAMILIES MOVE FROM UNCERTAINTY
TO A CLEARER PATH FORWARD
For more than 35 years, I have worked alongside neurodivergent young adults and their families. I know how complex this stage can feel for parents as they try to support independence, strengthen communication, and understand what their role looks like as their child moves into adulthood.
My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and practical. As both a professional and the parent of two neurodivergent adults, I help families slow down, better understand what is happening, and create a path forward that honors each young adult’s strengths, needs, and timeline.
Start Where You Are
You do not need to know exactly what you need before we talk. A discovery call is a simple way to share what is going on, ask questions, and see whether coaching could help you move forward.
