A Collaborative Layer of Support for Neurodiverse Students, Parents, and Families

As an educational consultant, you help families make important decisions about college, post-secondary options, transition planning, and the next step toward independence.

But sometimes, the student’s progress also depends on what is happening around the student. Parents may be unsure how to support independence without taking over. Communication may feel strained. Families may need support understanding readiness, shifting roles, and moving forward with more alignment.

I partner with educational consultants to provide parent coaching and consultation as an added layer of support for the families you serve.

When Families Need Support Beyond the College Plan

Educational consultants often see the places where student planning and family dynamics intersect.

This support may be a good fit if:

Student Support Needs
You work with students with learning differences, ADHD, autism, executive functioning challenges, or therapeutic support needs.

Transition Planning
You support neurodiverse students and families through college planning, post-secondary transition, or independent living decisions.

Referral Support
You want a trusted referral partner who can support the parent side of the transition process.

Greater Alignment
You want families to have added support so your work with the student can move forward with more clarity and alignment.

Parent Over-Functioning
You see parents who want to help, but may be stepping in too quickly or struggling to step back.

Family Dynamics
You are looking for someone who understands neurodiverse development, family dynamics, college readiness, and the emotional realities of this stage.

When parents have the right support, the student’s path forward can become clearer, more connected, and easier to sustain.

Support for the Parent Side of the Transition

Your work helps families understand options, make informed decisions, and prepare for what comes next. My work supports the parent questions, communication patterns, and family dynamics that can affect how smoothly that next step unfolds.

Through coaching and consultation, I help parents better understand their neurodiverse teen or young adult, clarify their evolving role, and support independence without over-functioning or stepping away completely.

This partnership gives families an added layer of support, while giving you a trusted referral resource for parents who need help building clarity, confidence, and stronger communication during the transition process.

Flexible Support for the Families You Serve

Every family’s needs are different. Support can be tailored based on the student’s stage of transition, the parent’s concerns, and the role you want me to play alongside your work.

Stronger Parent Support Creates a Stronger Transition

Many families begin working with educational consultants years before a major transition. Others arrive during the final push toward college, work, or a post-secondary program.

In both situations, parent support matters.

When parents better understand their role earlier in the process, they are more prepared to support independence, encourage self-advocacy, and reduce patterns that may unintentionally hold their young adult back.

For families closer to a major transition, coaching can help parents make decisions with more clarity, communicate with less tension, and support their young adult without carrying every next step for them.

The goal is to help the family system become more aligned, so the student has a stronger foundation for growth.

A Partnership Process Designed to Support the Whole Family

  • We begin by talking through your work, the families you serve, and where parent coaching or consultation could add meaningful support.

  • Together, we identify the best fit, whether that is 1:1 parent coaching, group coaching, family communication support, or professional consultation.

  • From there, I provide grounded, personalized support to help parents clarify their role, strengthen communication, and better support their young adult’s next step.

I HELP FAMILIES MOVE FROM UNCERTAINTY
TO A CLEARER PATH FORWARD

For more than 35 years, I have worked alongside individuals with learning differences, neurodiverse young adults, and their families. My experience includes special education, student advising, post-secondary transition, parent coaching, family support, and national leadership roles supporting families and professionals in this field.

I understand the student experience, the parent experience, and the professional ecosystem surrounding the transition to adulthood. I also bring personal understanding to this work as the parent of two neurodiverse adults.

My approach is collaborative, practical, and relationship-centered. I work well alongside educational consultants because I understand the importance of clear communication, professional trust, and consistent support for the families we serve.

Some families need support beyond the plan itself. They need help understanding one another, shifting roles, and building the communication and confidence that make the next step easier to sustain.

A consultation gives us time to talk through your work, the families you serve, and whether parent coaching could be a helpful resource within your referral network.
